    Salary Range: $52,291.00 - $81,103.65

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

    Performs responsible professional and administrative work in the purchasing and contracting processes for the County.

     

    DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

    An employee in this class is responsible for developing, implementing, supervising and administering a procurement and contracting program for the County. Work involves supervising, coordinating and participating in all phases and levels of the purchasing, bidding and contracting processes for the County, surplus property management, and advising individuals or groups at all levels of County Government on procurement statutes and best practices. Work is performed under guidelines established by the North Carolina general statutes, Iredell County ordinance and procedures, as well as Federal and State Grant agencies when needed, in accordance with standard governmental practices in purchasing and contracting. Judgment, interpretation, tact and public contact are required in working with commissioners, managers, department heads and staff, private contractors, bidders, and public agencies. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through periodic conferences, review of reports and records, and successful operation of the procurement, contracting, purchasing, and payment systems. Supervises a Purchasing Specialist.
